THE PIER

The famous 320 m long wooden pier on the Puck Bay side of the peninsula is directly connected to the Międzymorze promenade. It is an ideal place for enjoying leisurely walks or watching sunsets.

VIEWING TOWERS IN JURATA AND HEL

The viewing tower in Jurata offers a magnificent view of the whole of Jurata and the surrounding area. To reach the top you have to climb a few dozen stairs, but it is well worth the effort, because the panoramic views are breathtaking.

The second viewing tower is located near Hel, at a short distance from the bay. It is sometimes called the Wild Tower because of its steep stairway.

HEL-GDYNIA CYCLE ROUTE

There is a scenic cycle route all along the Hel Peninsula. From Hel to Jurata, the route winds through the forest and in the opposite direction it continues along the bay.

THE FISHERIES MUSEUM

The Fisheries Museum in Hel is situated right by the harbour. The museum’s exhibitions explore topics related to fisheries, the history of the Hel Peninsula and the history of the Baltic Sea. The museum itself is located in a remarkable old building: the former Evangelical church of St. Peter and St. Paul. Visitors can also climb the viewing tower, which offers a beautiful view of the Puck Bay.

Latarnia morska w Helu

The lighthouse is an over 40-metre-high structure built at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.

It was constructed of red brick in the shape of an octagonal tower. It is located at the tip of the Hel Peninsula and is open to the public during the summer season.

THE MUSEUM OF COASTAL DEFENCE (MOW) AND THE HEL RAILWAY MUSEUM

The exhibitions of the Museum of Coastal Defence are housed in the renovated buildings of the former German “Schleswig Holstein” artillery battery. In addition to permanent exhibitions, the museum features many exhibits relating to military history.

From the MOW, visitors take the narrow-gauge railway directly to the Hel Railway Museum. It was opened in May 2013 in one of the area’s massive reinforced concrete shelters. The museum presents the history and development of the Hel railway network.

THE HOUSE OF THE PORPOISE

The museum hosts an exhibition about the biology of porpoises and their importance to humans. Since 2015, a multimedia presentation has been available, exploring not only the life of porpoises, but also other marine animals including the white-beaked dolphin, fin whale, humpback whale and common dolphin.

SEAL SANCTUARY IN HEL

The Seal Sanctuary is part of the Marine Station of the Institute of Oceanography of the University of Gdańsk. The Seal Sanctuary is a family-friendly attraction, where you can learn many interesting facts about the life of these marine mammals and the conservation of the Baltic Sea. Visitors can also enjoy the feeding shows held at 11:00 and 14:00.

THE DUNE PARK

THE WRECK OF THE K-18 “BRYZA” CUTTER

Located 200 m off the Hel beach there is the sunken wreck of the K-18 cutter, originally belonging to the 43rd Squadron of Auxiliary Floating Units in the 9th Coastal Defence Flotilla in Hel. Today, it is an attraction for divers, both experienced and those who are about to embark on an underwater adventure. Novices are encouraged to use the services of one of the local diving centres.
